Baseline Breakdown

Breathe in, breathe out
Heavy breathing already?
Each stride, each step
Slow down, take it steady.

Pleasant day, lovely company
Stories make for great distraction
To the table, along for the run
Encouragement and attraction

A little hot, a little sweaty
Wondering how far we've come
Running slow, Breathing heavy
Knowing we've got a ways to run

People are running past
Having no intent to compete
Notice others run quite fast.
I just want to simply complete
Almost near you say, that you're right I pray
Alright mile three, a hill up ahead
Listen to the stories, focus on cute dogs
Can I do this? Should I walk instead?

We're doing this, we're oh so near
But what if it's an illusion, and we're actually quite far
Are you sure we're approaching the end
Yes, really. Wow, is that actually my car?

We did it, we made it, the end has come
It's all in the pace, encouragement, and tread
A soar of energy, ready for another run

Ok, perhaps not, let's walk and talk instead
